Fan favorite (to hate on) Brett Lebda and prospect Slaney, have been moved out of Toronto. For what? Wait, an NHL player? WAIT, TWO NHL PLAYERS. That's right, 23 year old Nashville defenceman Cody Franson and Mathew Lombardi who is currently on the LTIR suffering from a severe concussion. If Lombardi is healthy, he can be another good addition, and if not, his $3.5 million is not taken as a cap hit. Franson is inked for another season at only $800k. A conditional 4th round pick is also included in the deal.

*RUMOR*: Mike Komisarek is on the chopping block, as he is now pushed out of the top 6. Columbus and Washington are names I have heard, CBJ being main team in trade talks. Columbus needs to add another NHL defenseman to their roster as they have only 5 signed. WHAT could a trade be?

Derrick Brassard has been pushed out of the number 1 C he hoped to be, and could be a great pick up for the Leafs. Jeff Carter, star player, could also be in play? Reports have stated he is unhappy in Columbus. RJ Umberger is also a rumor to be moved out of Columbus, but highly unlikely he goes to any team, especially the Leafs. Prospects that could draw interest could be the services of Ryan Johansen.

Newly added Tim Connolly, when healthy, is an effective player. Connolly can put up good numbers and is a great playmaker. For a short contract of only 2 seasons and well over $4 million per season Connolly can provide a first line centre presence for a couple years if healthy. This gives Leafs young C's the time to progress, and if need be, another two seasons for Brian Burke to pick up the big man up the middle via trades or free agency.
